Have your own front door in Mayfair while enjoying access to all the five-star trimmings of The Athenaeum in our new residences. We invited the award-winning designer, Martin Hulbert, to work on our residences so that we could bring the best of the best to our guests. And the wait to see the new residences is now over!
Since our residences are set inside some of Mayfair’s most pristine red-bricks – a prime part of London’s architectural history – Martin decided to use the old mosaic tiled floors in the entryways as his inspirational starting point for the new colour schemes of the residences. These colours reflect the history of The Athenaeum and it’s place in London life in a modern way. Martin was also inspired by the street of Victorian red-brick townhouses our residences are located on, and the feeling of warmth and richness of the brickwork exterior also finds its way into the residences. Every residence has its own artwork, giving each space an individual feeling and a sense of ‘home’.
The new residences at The Athenaeum come with a plush bedroom, luxurious bathroom and separate living area, which has a kitchenette and dining alcove too. Some of the living spaces have sofas by B&B Italia, which Martin adorned with leather feet for a feeling of glamour and elegance. Dining tables have been finished with a rich varnish, while cabinets made by the renowned British furniture designer, Julian Chichester, have been lacquered with light colours to add a feeling of sophistication. Kitchen accessories are by Joseph Joseph, while the rich red velvet trim on the curtains add a touch of quirkiness, and are made by a solo Hampshire artisan. We have residences ideal for individuals, couples or families – and the latter have high-end bunk beds in a special niche to accommodate the little ones.
Importantly, Martin has also introduced just the right level of technology into our new residences. Bathrooms have intelligent toilets, incorporating features such as remote controls and seat warming technology. Lighting incorporated into cornicing in the rooms gives the residences a gentle light, with other lighting options that are uncomplicated but practical.
