MEET THE CHEF

Hailing from the heart of England in the midlands with his father’s family from Normandy in France, our Executive Chef Kevin Fawkes spent his weekends baking cakes with his auntie and helping his father in the kitchen. It’s here that he found his passion for all things cooking, taking on the role of apprentice baker straight out of school before completing further chef studies, chalking up 3 years of schooling in total.

His life-consuming passion for food led to him working in a range of luxury properties around the world, starting with The Savoy Hotel in London and moving onto venues such as Rosewood Hotel & Resort in Saudia Arabia and Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman. His culinary career has seen him travel the world, experiencing a whole host of new cultures and cuisines including cooking pancakes for hungry travellers at the highest lake in the world in Tibet.

The food was superb quality and we didn't feel we were being short changed by picking from the set menu. I would definitely recommend the restaurant. Cornel and his team made our evening very enjoyable and we will certainly return. Well done.

We had the pleasure of experiencing the 5 course tasting menu with matching wines at 116 at the Athenaeum and it was fabulous. Every course of food was wonderful, the service was excellent (they agreed with no issue at all to change the cheese course for me to another desert as I'm not a fan of cheese). Cornell was our waiter/service mgr and he was excellent at every point. I would highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Lovely place to have a catch up with friends. Our waiter Valentina was incredibly attentive and friendly which really made the trip and the food by Sergei was highly enjoyable.

ll staff were professional, friendly and welcoming, the dining room was stunning. Particular thanks goes to Alam who was an absolute gentleman, very attentive and made us feel comfortable and well looked after. Special praise goes to the cured salmon and beef cheek dishes! Even though we were late and time ran over, the restaurant very kindly arranged for our dessert to be packaged up (even vacuum packing the accompaniments!) so that we could enjoy at home. A wonderful experience and impeccable service from your staff. Thank you ever so much for a lovely memory.
