Release your inner thrill-seeker
Looking for a little adventure? These activities will give you an adrenaline rush!
Up at the O2
See a different side of the city with an exhilarating 90-minute climb over the O2! Although you’ll enjoy great views from the top, it’s the challenge and achievement of reaching the top that you won’t forget, plus you’ll have a fabulous family photo to remember it by.
Dodge at Somerset House
Get hearts racing with a thrilling dodgem ride! Relive your childhood and see the little ones have fun at Somerset House’s spectacular courtyard. As well as dodgems, enjoy the art installation taking over the courtyard and delicious food and drink by Jimmy Garcia.
Tower Bridge Walkway
As well as learning about the fascinating history of Tower Bridge, brave the glass floors of the high-level walkways, giving you panoramic views of the city 42 metres above the river.
Return to the theatre…
Trips to the theatre were one of the activities we missed most during lockdown, so take your pick of these live shows for an unforgettable family day out.
A classic West End musical
What could be better for your first visit back to the theatre? You can’t beat a musical in the West End. From The Lion King to Back To The Future, take your pick from Visit London’s round-up of the ten very best musicals.
The Tiger Who Came To Tea
If your children are a little too young to sit still for a long show, this is the show for you, based on Britain’s best-loved picture book by Judith Kerr.
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre: Dragons and Mystical Beasts
The most scenic theatre experience, the iconic Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has been running since 1932 in the beautiful surroundings of this Royal Park. This summer sees the arrival of ‘Dragons and Mystical Beasts’, a show perfect for entertaining the kids!
Stay active outdoors…
During the last year, we’ve all spent more time in the great outdoors, so keep up that healthy lifestyle with our al fresco activity suggestions.
Visit a London Lido
Enjoy a day by the pool without leaving London. Whether you’re heading south for a splash at Brockwell Lido, jumping in at Hampton Pool or enjoying views of London after a swim at Parliament Hill Lido, London has many outdoor pools that make for a perfect day in the sun.
Offering white water rafting, horse riding and much more, Lee Valley is the ultimate location for those looking for adventure. Let the little ones burn some energy with their choice of sport.
Go Ape’s Treetop Adventure at Battersea Park is perfect for little explorers with intricate crossings, wobbly bridges and great zip wire rides. If you’d like to get involved too, head for heights in their Treetop Challenge.
Learn something new…
It’s been quite some time since we were able to experience London’s museums, so escape the sun for a few hours and teach the kids something new with one of these interesting educational experiences.
Churchill War Rooms
Visit the underground headquarters that sheltered Churchill and his wartime government during the Blitz, just a hop, skip and a jump away from The Athenaeum!
Tower of London
London’s most famous fortress, palace and prison, take a tour of the Tower of London and get up close to the Crown Jewels.
Science Museum: Our Future Planet
As well as looking back at the history of London, think about the future with this free exhibition that explores the technologies being developed to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and help us fight climate change.
