A series of events taking place in Hyde Park during the February half term make this the perfect stop for families. From meeting birds to learning bush craft skills, children will learn something new and have a whale of a time in the process!
Marvellous and Mischievous: Literature’s Young Rebels
Half term is one of the last opportunities to visit this special exhibition at the British Library. Marvellous and Mischievous: Literature’s Young Rebels takes a look at the beloved rebels of children’s literature, from Roald Dahl’s Matilda, to Pippi Longstocking. There are plenty of interactive opportunities too, including dress-up and create your own comic sessions.
Soak up some of London’s fascinating history while embarking on an underground train ride! The Postal Museum is home to the underground train that used to transport mail around the city. The perfect half term treat!
This festival at the Southbank Centre will entertain, spark creativity and encourage an interest in the arts. Running from 12 to 23 February 2020, Imagine Children’s Festival has dozens of events hosted by a range of famous children’s presenters and authors. From The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show to the Giant Chalkboard, there’s something for children of all ages.
The West End production of Mary Poppins has become a recent family favourite in London. So have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day out during half term by taking in a performance of the magical show!
Captain Kidd’s Canary Wharf Voyage
Climb aboard one of the famous River Thames RIB boats for this family friendly voyage through London. The trip departs from the London Eye Pier and includes a child-friendly tour of London with plenty of jokes, plus a few thrilling speedy twists and turns. Trips are available throughout half term.
Visit the Natural History Museum on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday over half term and join a Nature Live talk just for kids. Each talk explores a different aspect of the natural world in a fun and interactive way, with plenty of chances for children to quiz the museum’s scientists!
Visit the SEA LIFE London Aquarium during half term and embark on a special mission to help the favourite video game character, Sonic. This special activity trail will help stop Dr Eggman from taking all the superpowers from the aquarium’s creatures! All children successfully completing the mission will receive a certificate.
Head over to The National Gallery between Tuesday 18 and Thursday 20 February for this family-friendly half term activity. These drop-in sessions with an artist help all members of the family experiment with different materials and techniques to create artworks.
Half term is one of the last opportunities to see School of Rock in London’s West End. The fun musical has had rave reviews since it opened in 2016, but it’s finally due to finish in London on 1 March 2020. Catch it while you can!
