Remember, remember the fifth of November, the annual celebration of Guy Fawkes’ foiled attempt to blow up parliament in 1605. So wrap-up warm and enjoy one of the many displays within easy reach of The Athenaeum.
Some of our favourites are held in Battersea Park, Victoria Park and Alexandra Palace where there are food & drink stalls and entertainment for children. Some of the displays are ticketed so please check before the day to avoid disappointment.

For six weeks, Hyde Park quite literally transforms into a winter wonderland. Suitable for couples, and family alike, Winter Wonderland will thaw the frostiest of visitors. The main park (food stalls, German beer tent and market) is free to enter, however if you want to visit the payable attractions such as Cinderella on Ice, the Observation Wheel, ice skating or Circus performances you’ll need to book tickets in advance.
Winter Wonderland is just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, making us an ideal base for all the festivities.

The Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Kings Place to name but a few will play host to an electrifying 10 day performance. This festival is in its 25th Year so it’s certainly doing something right.
