SPA-4

20th December 2017

The holiday season is a time of eating, drinking and being merry. But all the festivities can become a little wearing on our bodies. The British Dietetic Association estimates that we consume a whopping of 6,000 calories each on Christmas Day alone. During the run-up to the holidays, they also estimate we’re consuming 500 calories more per day too, whether it’s through meals, alcohol and all those festive snacks we can’t get enough of.

Once you’ve had your fill of mulled wine and mince pies galore, it’s high time to rebalance your body. Instead of punishing yourselves with a crash diet in the New Year, come along to our spa instead. We’re sure you’ll agree, that sounds like a much more attractive option…

Massage and other spa treatments are good for your health for countless reasons. Massage improves your circulation, reduces tension in your muscles and helps clear the body of waste products by gently stimulating your lymphatic system. The result is an energy boost, stress relief and a more resilient immune system. Studies show that almost 90% of people say massage is beneficial to their overall health and wellness too.

Those sound like plenty of good excuses to head over to REN Spa at The Athenaeum after the holiday season. We use tailor-made REN skincare treatments in our boutique spa to help you relax and rejuvenate.

Our most popular treatments include REN Radiance, the REN Bespoke Hot Stone Massage and the express REN Moroccan Rose Scrub.

REN Radiance is a brightening facial that helps to re-energise tired, dull and stressed skin over a 75-minute treatment. We’ll find out more about your skin before the treatment starts so we can design a facial treatment that suits your skin perfectly. Just some of the products we might choose include the Rosa Centifolia™ Hot Cloth Cleanser – a rich, two-phase cleanser that purifies, decongests and gently exfoliates your skin. Or our Vita Mineral™ products help to replenish your skin with vital nutrients, ideal for maintaining healthy skin during winter.

The hour-long REN Bespoke Hot Stone Massage is also customised to your needs and indulges your body with a full body massage that combines acupressure and shiatsu techniques. Shiatsu massage is said to be one of the best stress relievers, restoring balance to your body by identifying and releasing points of tension. People leave saying they feel calm, refreshed and energised.

The REN Moroccan Rose Scrub is an express treatment for those who don’t have a lot of time, but who want to feel invigorated and smooth at the end. Over the course of half an hour, we’ll treat your body to a full body sugar scrub using REN’s world-renowned Moroccan Rose body scrub. This specially crafted scrub includes cane sugar, which exfoliates the skin, boosts cell turnaround and enhances skin renewal. It also includes olive and almond oils for replenishing dry skin, and caffeine from kola nuts to boost circulation and tone the skin. You’ll leave with silky skin and smelling of roses. That sounds like the only way to start the New Year to us!
