Romance and London go hand-in-hand. The combination of incredible history, royal sites and beautiful green spaces, combined with amazing restaurants, entertainment and nightlife makes the city a perfect spot for romantic city breakers. Every love story is beautiful, but yours will always be the best.

When it comes to romantic things to do in London, the city is definitely ready for you. Firstly, embrace London’s romantic history by paying a visit to St Bride’s Church, which dates back to 1672. The design of the church steeple inspired a local baker to create the world’s first tiered wedding cake in 1703 – a design which is still a global tradition to this day.

St Brides Church

Wandering around with your loved one is a pastime in itself in London. Little Venice is considered to be one of the most romantic spots in the city, while its name makes reference to its romantic Italian namesake. This is a place to stroll along the pretty canals, stop for a coffee in a waterside café and take a boat trip. Other romantic London pastimes including visiting Columbia Road Flower Market, stopping off at the Royal Observatory to do some stargazing and watching a classically romantic opera at the Royal Opera House.

Spending time in any of London’s parks is a must during romantic trips too. Go rowing on Hyde Park’s Serpentine, discover the hidden-away Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park and enjoy the views over London from Hampstead Heath. Be sure to stop at Keats House too, where the romance of John Keats’ poetry can still be found.

Flower Market

Also enjoy a meander through Green Park to catch a glimpse of Buckingham Palace. Green Park has a romance-related story of its own. In the 17th century, King Charles II’s wife demanded all formal flowerbeds to be removed from the park after she caught her husband picking flowers for another woman. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned…
