The best dog walks in Central London

01. Green Park

Just a hop, skip and a jump from our front door, Green Park is located directly opposite The Athenaeum. With such a convenient location, choose to wander along the paths to Buckingham Palace, play Frisbee in some of the more open spaces or even enjoy a picnic on the grass.

02. Grosvenor Square Garden

With pristine lawns for furry friends to frolick in, you might be surprised to hear that Grosvenor Square is situated in the heart of Mayfair. Bursting with greenery, this tranquil spot is ideal for an escape from the hustle and bustle of London life, whilst relaxing with your pooch.

03. Berkley Square

Open and airy, Berkley Square is home to some of central London’s oldest trees - ideal for providing a leafy canopy on warmer days and a good source of excellent sticks.

04. Hyde Park

With nearly 350 acres of space, Hyde Park is sure to get your dog’s tail wagging. Plus, with plenty of landmarks for humans to enjoy, such as the Serpentine Lake and Speakers corner, expect a treat for both you and your four-legged friend.

05. Mount Street Gardens

Surrounded by some impressive architecture and not one, but two striking churches, this hidden gem will not disappoint. And whilst humans will get their culture-fix, pups can enjoy investigating the formal lawns and planting beds.

Filled with both history and adventure, St James’ Park is the capital’s oldest royal park. Situated just opposite Buckingham Palace you never know who you may bump into on an afternoon stroll.

The ultimate route

If time is on your side, try this scenic route and take in the sights…

• Start at St James' Park, and enjoy a stroll through the parkland and gardens, before catching a glimpse of the Wildlife Officers feeding the pelicans (2:30pm, daily).
• Drop by St James’ Palace and soak up its Tudor splendour.
• Head up The Mall passing by Clarence House, the official London residence of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, until you reach Buckingham Palace.
• Walk to the right of the Palace and stroll through leafy Green Park.
• Soon you’ll hit Constitution Hill and the spectacular Wellington Arch – originally built as an entrance to Buckingham Palace.
• Cross the road to Hyde Park (where we’re sure your pooch will find a few other furry friends to play with).
• Here, you can follow the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk into the rose garden. Continue along the path up to the Serpentine boating lake (unfortunately doggy dips are not allowed so remember to keep your companion on a lead if they’re inclined to make a run for it at the first sign of water!).
• If everyone’s legs are still up for it, continue further west and take in the sights of the grand Albert Memorial, impressive Royal Albert Hall, and Kensington Palace – the official London residence of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
