A symbol of history
Although Britain won the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson sadly lost his life. To honour his victory and his sacrifice, Nelson’s column was built in the centre of the square. The square is a short walk from Buckingham Palace, Leicester Square, Covent Garden and The Houses of Parliament.
