Local one-stop shops include Selfridges, Liberty, Harvey Nichols and Harrods. Designer finds are to be had in Bond Street and South Molton Street. Conduit Street and its environs are home to Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson and Richard James, all fabulous British names for fashion, fragrances and accessories.

If luxury fragrances, essentials and scented candles are what you are looking for, head to Ormond Jayne in the Royal Arcade, Miller Harris in Bruton Street or Jo Malone on Sloane Street.

Belgravia - in particular the area around Halkin Street and Motcomb Street, is home to a number of luxury retailers. Belinda Robertson is renowned for her fabulous cashmere - even creating made to measure cashmere couture. Other stores include Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin and Anya Hindmarsh. An accessories lovers heaven!

On Regent Street, Barkers Shoes, a family owned business, has been making bespoke footwear for many decades. Whilst on Regent Street, do not miss a look at Liberty. Recently revamped, Liberty has the best beauty section in town. The traditional Liberty prints have been given a new lease of life, and are a perfect gift for your friends back home (or even yourself!).

Paul Smith has recently opened a fabulous new store on Albemarle Street. As well as his fashion range, this store is reminiscent of someone's home and is stocked with furniture, antiques and curiosities, all of which are chosen by Paul Smith himself.

Jermyn Street is the place to go for traditional Gentlemen’s wear. Turnbull & Asser or TM Lewin stock a fabulous range of shirts, ties and suits, whilst J Lobb is the ultimate store for men’s shoes.

For a part of London which is truly unique, head to Notting Hill and Westbourne Grove where international designers such as Paul & Joe, Emma Hope, Scorah Patullo and Paul Smith rub shoulders with one-off stores such as Aimé and JM Davidson.
